What have these seen? - 2009-09-04

Regular followers of my blog will know I normally don't post a large amount of text along with photos I post up on a week to week basis however I wanted this to be an exception.

A few months back I posted this and posted a little bit of a backstory about it, well this shot while not the most impressive was taken the same day. The glasses belong to my old nextdoor neighbor who used to own and operate a pub/small grocery and funeral parlor next to our house, she lived on her own but yet she always had friends and neighbors in her kitchen anytime any of us called over during the years.

She continued to operate the pub up until around 2002 when she sold the license and decided to retire. Shortly after she retired a location scout for the film Breakfast On Pluto thought her pub would be great for the film and her pub was actually used during the filming of Breakfast On Pluto (the main character Patrick 'Kitten' Braden grew up in it) which was great excitement for her and anyone else involved in the town.

Sadly she died soon after the film premiered in 2006, when I took this photo it was the first time I had been in her house since she died and I couldn't help but feel sad seeing her glasses just left in the bathroom upstairs and seeing the house in such disrepair.
